Hi all,
We’ll be putting in the vapor barrier and 2″ foam insulation for under our basement slab. I’ve done a search in the archives, and there is some mention of taping the seams on the insulation, but I couldn’t find any mention of what kind of tape. When I asked at the lumberyard, he said “Uh, I dunno…..duct tape should probably work”. Doesn’t seem like duct tape would last all that long. Any other suggestions?
Thanks a bunch, I’ve learned a lot from all of you!

I've been told to use foil backed duct tape, not fabric backed duct tape.

What are you trying to accomplish by taping the seams in the insulation? I don't think I've ever seen that done, and can't imagine the benefit of doing it.

If you're concerned with the seams, maybe use doubled 1" and stagger the layers...
