I’ve been in a 60 year old house for about a year now. The house has old plumbing, but no major problems overall. One thing that has been annoying is a bad smell coming from the tub drain. Whenever the shower or tub is running it seems to activate sewer gases or something foul in the drain that comes up and stinks up the room during a shower.
I have tried pouring drain cleaner, and other household cleaners into the drain. The smell goes away — but only for a few days or a week, and then it comes back as strong as ever.
And ideas for a remedy?
