Jeeg. First answer Don't vent.Seal all the holes in the basement ceiling and in the attic floor.Install plenth of cellulose insulation in the attic. If you have littl heat loss inot the attic and little ier carrying moisture inot the attic thgen you need little or no attic vnetrilation.
Second answer. Codes do not require soffit venting. soffit vnting is only necessary with the right ridge vent.GeneL.
*gene ... you're breaking up ... we're losing you ...
*jeeg, the soffit vents that you are considering, aren't venting the soffit, they are venting the roof. Local codes will dictate how many vents are needed according to your attic footage, and the requirements of your region. Here in MI, I put one 8"x16" vent per 8'. Sometimes we use 2" continuous vent.Blue
*gene, why so you want to seal the basment?Blue
