A recent FIB article suggests using sweated copper fittings for rigid copper pipe connections, and flared fittings for use with soft copper pipe. My question is is there a problem with sweating soft copper pipe? I like to use soft copper in some applications because it makes it so much easier to adjust the locations of the pipe coming out of the wall and works great for gently bending pipe around tricky spots. I’d rather sweat it all rather than sweat some and flare others. If sweating the soft stuff is forbidden, then I may be in trouble. Any input anyone?
