Third generation slider.
I bought the 7.5″ slider a few days ago for trim work and a shingle project coming up where very few shingles will not be cut (all dormers and gables). Since I’ll be on scaffolding, ladders and roof jacks, I thought the 28# of the 7.5″ would be a lot more managable on a roof than the 50-60 pounds of the 12″. (The right 12 incher is now dedicated to the shop, a newer Mak 12 incher is in the truck.)
Ain’t he cute? Bevels only to the left, though.
Edit, both links are the same, I must have hit the Attach button twice.

Sounds like a good move. Does it really take 7.5" blades? That sounds like an unusual size. I have an 8" Dewalt and can usually only find one, maybe two blade choices on the shelf.

Yep, 7 1/2", only found blades made by Mak, $35 a pop. Should last awhile, though, since it's a limited use tool.
It does cut a 2x on the flat, but not much more.
There are 4 poles in a two stage slide arrangement. I was afraid of slop, but it cuts, miters and bevels perfectly right out of the box.

If you're only trimming shingles, I wonder if you could use a 7.25 blade. That's only 1/8" differnece at the table."Put your creed in your deed." Emerson

That is cute. I saw a cordless Makita the same size, don't know if they still make that.I have a Craftsman 7 1/2" radial arm miter saw... one of the first sliders... it would work with 7 1/4" blades. If dogs run free, then what must be,

Nick,
Now you just need a 10incher to complete your collection.

I've been considering getting one of those li'l saws for a while now, as my regular slider is the 12" Bosch, which is way overkill for 80% of my work but needed for the other 20%. It wouldn't be an issue so much except that I'm working out of a mini van, so space is at a premium. I'll probably get one this summer.

My dilemma exactly, only I have a 12' utility van, so I should be able to make room somewhere."I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul." Invictus, by Henley.
Whats the center hole size? I might have some 7.5" blades!
5/8"

I'm 90% sure Craftsman had "7 1/4- 7 1/2" stamped or printed on thier blades for thier saws..I started out with one back in the 70's, and I could swear it was a 7 1/2" saw..meaning there was both the room for that blade dia, and they had blades that dia.
Ya might wanna check, how bad could thier blades be for what you are doing?
But again, if needed to just use a 7 1/4", is there a depth of cut adjuster? If not just pack up the table with some 1/4 ply maybe.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks
