Has anyone tried the soy gel wood strippers and do they work? We have several porch railings with detail to strip and even with a dremel tool, it just takes forever.
I thought maybe the gel wouldn’t be as toxic as some of the other products and easier to work on curves and detail work.
thanks

We used SoyGel on a couple of rooms and are pretty happy with it. You will need to rinse it well with clear water and a stiff brush, so be sure to protect the area around where you are stripping with plastic and paper, plus plan on having a couple of buckets of clear water to rinse the brushes in. We use brass brushes from a janitoral supply store.
We scrap the contaminated remover and paint off onto layers of newpaper and then bag the newspaper.
There are some finishes it does not work well on. I'm not positive what I have in one room, but it doesn't work on it.
Heat is still the cheapest way to go, if money is a concern.
Thank you, that sounds like a pretty good system!

Really? I just searched the archives in less time than it probably took for you to type in your post. Searched for "soy remover" in the advanced search and came up with 8 hits that you may be interested in. You might want to invest the 10 seconds or so to do this search as well. Some interesting info that was new to me.
