Hoping to reach Boss, or other knowledgeable folks…
I have a 40 x 42 building that is going to require the roof torn off and a walker hip truss system installed. I don’t want to tear out the existing ceiling joists if possible.
I launched into self employment this past week due to job loss, and my cell phone is out of minutes. Thus DW needs to get quotes on the trusses. I’m not sure what info she needs to get the truss guys able to quote..
What info do they need?

Clear span, overhang dimension, any intermediate bearing walls, roof slope, any attic storage need.

heel height for insulation?
Welcome to the Taunton University of Knowledge FHB Campus at Breaktime. where ... Excellence is its own reward!
I inferred that it is a storage / utility building ... 40x50 ft square ... no insulation.

Thank you for the replies. I got a laugh from yours boss. ok. The building is insulated, I didn't give good description of it. It is an older 8-unit apartment building that we bought last fall, and I have gutted. I took 7 layers of shingles off the deck (2 rolled), and I thought I could reuse the roof framing and decking.
Saturday I had a guy out whose done some roofing for me and his crew wouldn't work it for being spongy, and Bob showed me some good reasons to replace the roof framing. So $200 to the crew, two guys drove 1 1/2 hours for the job.
I have just launched into rehabbing low-income properties full time due to losing my job with the gc I was with 1 week ago. DW and I plan to do it together, with her handling tenant stuff. We had two jobs pulling along and now I'm able to make progress.
The building with the roof has board of health issues with it coming up for periodic demolition hearings until I get the outside of it done. But we had another 5-unit building we have had tenants move into that is a few weeks from being done.
What's the lead time on trusses?

"What's the lead time on trusses?"
You'll have to ask around locally on that one. I've been in situations where we can build trusses the next day, and been over 6 weeks out.
Typically, I'd say we're around 2 to 3 weeks out during the summer. But that depends heavily on the demand and the weather.Q: What's the difference between husbands and prisoners?A: Prisoners complain behind bars. Husbands complain in them.
Honestly - No offense intended - I absolutely HATE it when guys send their Wives in to get quotes on trusses.
I have nothing against working with women. It's just that they typically aren't prepared to handle any sort of questions about the building, the trusses, or possibly options.
I've often met folks in the evening or on weekends to help them figure out what they want/need. And if it's an addition or major remodel, I'd rather come out and look at the thing anyway.
So that's what I recommend doing - Get someone out there to talk over what you weant to do. They may have some useful suggestions once they see the building.
.
BTW - I've never heard the term "walker hip truss system". Just curious what it means...
