I’ve got a bunch of cable (over 2000 lbs) for which I haven’t been able to find the specifications. It is labeled
b General Cable Corp. AF30(635) 37611
It is single conductor stranded #6 wire with a two layer rubber covering, giving an overall diameter of 3/4 inch. On of the reels was marked ‘Aircraft landing lights’ and ‘1000 volt rating’. The outer insulation layer (1/8 in) seems to be a chlorinated polymer and has undergone no apparent deterioration after 5 years of outside exposure.
I want to use this cable underground to my shop. I’m pretty sure it is intended for underground use but I can’t find it listed.
Will #6 wire have too much IR drop in a 300 ft run to power a 5hp planer and 2hp dust collector together? I’ve got enough of this stuff to double every thing in the run if the guage is too light. Thanks in advance.
