I had a very squeaky floor in my kitchen. I went underneath in the crawl space and slid three small joists in. I did not hammer them or force them.
neverthess, there is a small, barely noticeable raise in the flooring. I would take this trade off gladly, but am wondering if the raise will lead to further problems I should be aware of. And, if so, would removing the shims and using a different method fix the problem or is it too late?

What type of sheeting/subfloor do you have?
What is the finish floor?
Does the squeak occur only in the heating season
What is the crawl?
I’m not really sure what kind of sheeting/subfloor I have....
The squeak usually comes right after the hearing season.
The crawl is the crawl space. Is there something more you’re looking for?
You were under the floor, what did you see? Plywood or individual boards?
Same goes for the crawl, dirt, stone (visqueen for an attempt at keeping vapor from rising......or concrete?
Thanks
Individual boards.
The crawl is a stone floor with a tarp-like covering over it. The covering is fairly secure but not 100%
