My second floor 2.25″ oak flooring squeaks like nuts. It seem like in most areas, but especially high traffic areas that it’s loose. Anybody experienced this? Anybody know what causes this? Is there a solution other than face nailing or taking it all up and putting down new? Anybody got any face nailing tips that help disguise the nail hole? I thought about screws and plugs, but I thought that might look kinda dumb on flooring that’s only 2.25 wide.

Could be any of a number of things, Chuck.
Subfloor- what kind and how is it fastened?
Did you use felt or rosin paper under the floor?
Did you give the flooring a chance to acclimate to to the room it was installed in? In my experience it makes a big difference in the final product.
How did you fasten the floor?
