I was trying to design a staircase for a rather tight situation, and thought that by using winders I could save some space, but after looking at the codebook and some examples & specs for winders, it would seem that winders actually take up more space than a square 3′ x 3′ landing and two regular steps. Is this so, or am I missing something? I am in Georgia, where we follow CABO, but allow steps to have a 9″ run instead of 10″.

I think you're missing something. You oughta be able to fit two extra winder steps in there,at the least. I don't care for them, but if the step fits...
Don't worry, we can fix that later!
