I want to stain the cedar channel siding on my house with Benjamin Moore Moorewood Alkyd Solid Stain. On the stain can it say’s not to use under 50 degrees. The average temperature is in the mid 40’s. Has anyone used this stain under 50 degrees? What will happen if I do? Is there anything else I could use in cold weather? Thanks for the advice.

If it says on the label Do Not use under 50 degrees, take that wisdom to heart. Put the brushes away, curl up on the couch and watch the Patriots. Wait till spring time, the siding will still be there.

If you have to, thin so it works, don't expect much over the wet spots.
If this is a water based stain, make sure it gets warmer first. If oil, it'll just cure more slowly.
Last fall, I succumbed to the tempatation to use a water based solid when it was 50° top temp of the day with dropping to 38° later on. Wanted to hurry and finish to get paid.
I ended up resanding and repainting that railing for free this spring.
