Are there any stamp collectors out there? yoo hoo…
I have a small bunch of stamps I was given by my grandfather that I am slowly going through and trying to figure out what I’ve got here. A lot of stamps from Great Britain to start with, circa 1920’s, some Hawaiian stamps, some really old cancelled envelopes from NY state, including one with a letter in it, 1800’s, and other neat stuff. Any ideas or websites? I have located several local stamp clubs in New Mexico, which will probably be fun to seek out.

You might want to try Mystic Stamp, http://www.mystic.com (I think). Stanley Gibbons is a huge British dealer you could also look for online. For prices of US stamps try the postal service, http://www.usps.com Search around and they have a large area on stamp collecting. One of the items they sell is a catalog of ALL US stamps ever issued.
Hope this helps.
*Your library will have stamp catalogs (Scott's is the most common although their proces are unrealistically high). But any catalog will identify the ones worth a few bucks each from the really common stuff. Common stuff was also priced at $0.02 when I collected stamps at age 10.Generally, the widely used denominations and issues are worth very little. IF someone collected by taking stamps off of the envelopes they recieved, most of them aren't worth much.Airmail stamps and odd denominations are often worth more. When postage was $0.02, the $0.02 stamp in a series was VERY common. It was the 17 cent one or the 2 dollar one that is now worth alot. -David
*Thank you very much!
