I’m going to be putting down about 1,700 sf of 3/4″ solid Brazilian Teak and was wondering what folks thought on staples versus cleat nails.
Is one better over the other for hard, 3/4″ stock?
I had an earlier post about using an import gun, but the more I thought about it, I think I better stick with a name brand (Bostitch, Porter Cable, Porta-Nail) because I don’t want any break downs and besides, it will have great resale value.
Thanks!

buy the bostitch stapler good price at coastal tool, 1 or 2 day delivery use the staple gun, the ammo is way cheaper than the nailers

I use the Bostitch stapler and it works well.
Years ago I bought a used Porter Cable cleat nailer on ebay. I used it to install Maple flooring. I have no complaint about the nailer, it never jammed or misfired on me.
In my opinion cleats are better since the teeth on them prevent them from being pulled out.

Staples for sure. Have you ever tried to pull one out? Good luck.A staple offers the benefit of less splitting since the gauge of the staple is thinner. Also, think about this; there's a strap holding the wood in with two fasteners, balancing the load over the shoulders of the staple. Many staples are ridged, so they act similar to a ring shank nail. A nail has ridged teeth and a head, but it's no match to a staple.
