I am building a house with a walkout basement. All of the contractors I have discussed the framing for the walkout basement wall with are planning to us standard wood framing for an 8″ wall. I will be using all steel studs for the basement interior wall framing. My question is; would steel be a better option for framing the basement walkout wall? It seems that it would be less impacted by moisture than wood. The wall is 48′ long and will have two 6′ sliders and a small dh window. Any opinions on wood vs. steel framing for this application? The house will have vinyl siding.
Thanks,
Indian Creek Woodworks.

If your refering to standard steel studs the answer is no.
If you're going to install 6 foot sliders etc in the wall, you will like the performance of the wood stud wall better.
If I were doing it in steel, I would have to have structural steel post at all load bearing points and on each side of the sliders and then fram it with standard steel studs.
