I’m thinking about using natural stone in some of my rooms in our new home to be built shortly, and I am considering “stone planking”

The product is 6 inches wide by 1 to 4 feet in length and 3/4 inch thick. The ¾ thickness does leave the goal of height uniformity a challenge, but before I tackle that issue, I was wondering about the best install process. I’ve been told that this is installed the following way on top of the sub floor:

¼ Dry-set mortar
½ of some said ¼ CBU
¼ dry-set mortar
¾ Stone

I was wondering if (a) a Ditra System could be used for this flooring, I would think that it would be the best, in lieu of a CBU. (b) Should I be concerned of the weight on the floor system (c) the best way to accommodate the flooring transition to hardwood?
I’ve attached some pics of the product, it does look nice as an alternative to the tile/stone squares
Thanks

I looked at the manufactures websites and they really don't offer any details about installation.
One of the things to find out is what kind of stiffness that they require in the floor. Being that long I suspect that it is much more than regular stone tile formats.
Also how flat is it. That will determine the size of the thinset needed to get good contact.
I would ask over in the John Bridges forum. That is all tiles and hopefully you will find some one that is familar with the product.
Thanks Bill, I'll do that.
