How?
Simpson Duravent, 6″ pipe that’s about 12″ or better outside. Comes in galvanized & stainless.
How do I detail it where it goes through the copper?
Simpson sells some flashings, all galvanized, no copper or stainless. Local supplier isn’t much help, no experience with copper.
Make my own from copper? They do have something called a storm collar, looks to be just a ring that goes around the pipe and sits above whatever flashing comes up from the roof. I don’t see how this is gonna make a watertight seal, unless there’s some sort of sealant with it.
Help!!

I think making your own from copper would look better -- it would match the rest of the roof. It should be pretty simple to sleeve the outside with copper to a point up under whatever cap you have, where it would be sheltered.

John, I was thinking of wrapping the pipe itself in copper, but the actual through the roof flashing is my problem. No clue as to how to do it, and no book that shows anything.
Found a PDF instructions from Simpson, but the actual weather tite details are slim and seem to deal only with a shingled roof.
They mention using their storm collar over the flashing and sealing it with a unspecifiec mastic. No recommended product.
I don't want to hack a big hole until I figure out how to proceed. Winter is going to be long and cold is seems.

You might be able to get Grant (greencu, cu, see you) to fabricate something for ya. Don't know what his rates are, but he's got some purdy work out there.
He will probably be along eventually.

I'm thinking of fabbing up something like what they have in their catalog, but then what? Solder it to the top of the roof?
Or maybe just a cone with some tabs at the base, solder it right to the roof pan? Probably need to buy the right book that shows how it's done, none of mine address this. Full of pictures and drawing of everything but what I need to do.
Maybe I don't need a wood stove..........

Here's what you do - buy the proper galvanized flashing and storm collar. Take the flashing apart. Lay it out on sheet copper and trace. Cut out the pieces and assemble. You'll have to solder where the locks were on the original flashing. Solder the flashing to the roof.
I use Geocel caulk at the storm collar/pipe junction. Wrap the rest of the pipe with copper.

Way too simple.....
Off to HD to buy a cheap flashing.
I have an old Audel's sheetmetal handy book that shows how to lay it out, but buying one for a pattern sounds waaaaaaay easier.
Thanks, Joe H
Yeah, I can lay one out, but a pattern is quicker. Good luck.Birth, school, work, death.....................
Bet the pattern for that handsome Roofer's Hat His Sphericalness was sporting a while back would be close to what I need.
