I am removing stucco that was applied to an 1881 home in 1970….What is the best way to remove this stuff?
I have used an air hammer/chisel that works pretty well, but wonder if there is a better way. I don’t want to damage the original siding that is underneath.
Thanks.

Kinda depends on whether you are trying to save the siding. If not just strip off the siding and the stucco with a shingle scraper or a wonder bar.
If you are trying to save the siding then I'd go after it with a brick hammer. Kind of like a shingle hammer but the blade goes the opposite direction and is stiffer. It will hold up to masonry abuse.
Sounds like a tough job. Why not just restucco?
