Last summer when I was planning this shop, I was told lumber was at an all time high … hold off till spring. At that time I had enough saved for a contractor to put up the shell for me.
This spring lumber had jumped so much that I could not afford labor and material … so I started building the shop myself.
Last week I got a quote for 2 x 6’s … 16 ft long …. $23 (I had paid $22 three weeks before).
Today I put in an order for another 150 …. $29 each !!!!!!!!!!!!!
1/2″ OSB …was $39 two weeks ago … now $46
They will only give me a quote good for three days !!!!!!!!!!!
At this point I may not even have enough money for the shell.
I see go fund me pages set up for all kinds of reasons … might be time to set one up for a workshop fund.

Supply and demand. Building is crazy here in south Florida, a truss package that was $9,000 3 months ago is now $17,000 and climbing with no end in sight. It's really a bad time to be building anything. I wouldn't.
