Does anybody know of a good product for protecting a plywood subfloor?( during construction, drywall mud, etc.) Something not too expensive. I’ ve seen paper in rolls called ” deadening felt ” , I think made by Tamko. I’m not sure where to get it. Any suggestions?

What is the purpose of protecting the floor? We will somtimes go to the big box stores and pick-up a few gallons of their "give away, wrong color mix" paints to roll out on the floors to protect them from excessive moisture and subsequent swelling while exposed to the elements. Typically however, a few minutes with a long handle ice scraper or tile scraper is more than sufficient remove mud splatter, etc. to prep for flooring.

I've saved some pieces of old luan paneling from demos as floor protection. You could lay it right on top of subfloor. On nice hardwood, I lay down some newspaper, then the luan. With that in place, you can drop a hammer, even demo plaster and shovel it up.

my favorite methid of protecting a subfloor is to buy Advantech.. not much that can hurt it..
if you want to go beyond that, savbe the cardboard the windows come in and cover the floor with the cardboard

Advantech is the ticket. Worth the price.
