I got a call from a guy that wants his house insulated. He would like the steel siding removed and for us to blow in celulose. But…….he wants no holes in the wood siding.
I am thinking I can cut up underneath the piece of siding with a long recip blade and clip the nails. Cut each end of the siding at the window trim or wherever it happens to terminate. Then screw a 1″X 4″ across the opening and blow in the insulation. Pull that piece out and re-install the old siding.
Sound like a plan? Anyone got a better method? Thanks in advance. DanT

Sorry I wasn't clear. It currently has steel siding over the cedar siding. He wants the steel removed so they can repaint the wood siding. After the steel is removed he wants cellulose blown in.
In our area vinyl, aluminum and steel siding are king and value adding items. Usually we just unhook and raise the siding, drill the wood and blow it in. In this case he is trying to restore the house but his wife already finished the inside walls so he want it done with out damaging the wood siding. Hence my question. DanT
Would your HO go for drilling the necessary holes and then plugging them so nicely it won't show up after he paints?

But it is not this day.
Too much work, don't cut your nails pull 2 courses with flat bar, 1 clap under window sills and 1 clap by top of windows. 2 rows of claps per floor then drill through sheathing and blow. In ten years time in New England I only ran into 6 buildings with claps and no sheathing. 1 was a church in Meriden Ct. on that one I wrapped and tacked carpet over the 1x4 to act as a gasket cell is nice and dusty thats why it works so well.
"on that one I wrapped and tacked carpet over the 1x4 to act as a gasket"Is that what they call wall to wall carpet? Ha Ha!Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
