hey,
thoughts on nailing down a t&g porch floor, read an article from probably before my time
(FH dads stash) nailing down whilst the paint is wet, locking the joint? thoughts? i have a 15gauge finish nailer, but do you think i should hand set gal finish nails through the groove?

No. 15ga it through the tounge.

Not sure it's a good idea to "lock the joint" It is the only place the wood can expand and contract without splitting.

I assume you are talking about wood T&G, probably fir? I backprime first and let it dry. I put a dab of 3M 5200 adhesive on the joist under each board and then nail through the tongue with stainless 15 gauge nails. The 5200 acts as an adhesive and also helps span any irregularities.
