Has anybody done one of these bench-radiators? If so, how does it look and work for you?
For a foyer area, we need some heat, we were going to do a bench, and this Myson product looks like it will do both in one stroke.

I think if I sat on that after coming in from a cold North Country winter, I'd just spin around and take a nap right there.
Gene,
You come up with some really interesting stuff sometimes.
Where or how on earth did you find such a thing?
I thinks it's awesome and beautiful to boot!

I was checking out the Myson site for panel radiators a while back, saw this TV/towel bar/radiator...i about swooned. The towel warmers are simply beautiful.
2am and your'e looking at towel bars? Almost full moon; not easy for some of us to rest.
Nice looking products on that site.[email protected]
3:30 here now....I saw the lovely moon earlier, but the clouds and cold moved in. I've got a small fire in the woodstove, cup o' tea, and enjoying surfing after a couple weeks of Homeowner Hell.
Eric,Here's a link to one site.http://www.warmrooms.co.uk/acatalog/Bench_Radiators.htmlJoe Carola
Yea they use them at football games that are played in Buffalo and Green Bay!

Looks like it belongs in a mud room. I spose functunally its a bit silly to spend god knows how much to have your tush heated for two minutes but it looks real nice. USing it to put my boots on all bundles up I don't think I'd care for it but comin' back in I'd probably appreciate it.
Interesting to say the least....surprised it doesn't have boot, sock and glove warmers built in.
You know, not to generalize, but the 29% of people who still support President Bush are the ones who love to pronounce themselves more patriotic than the rest of us. But just saying you're patriotic is like saying you have a big one. If you have to say it, chances are it's not true.

looks great... form & function... what more could you ask?

How much does that thang cost?
Maybe $800 in the size we want. If you consider that we were going to put a built-in bench in the space, and a separate panel radiator either adjacent or across the foyer out of the door swing space, then the cost of the bench looks like $575 or so.
But look! The built in bench would have a total cost, materials and labor, of that or more.
It now makes the radiator bench look OK, cost-wise.
There are custom colors, premium colors, and top options, for making the bench look super sleek, in an art Deco way. Of course, a big 8-footer with all the bells and whistles will break the bank.
It's really nice looking. And your cats will love it! If you don't have cats, get a few. Mine would sleep on top of the regular radiator - this would be heaven for them!
That type of device along with the panel radiator is very common in Northern Europe. They've been used there for quite a while with success.
The prices here have not seemed to go down in the last 20 years no doubt due to lack of sales. I'm guessing most people still can't get past the sticker shock unless they're outfitting their ski vacation home in the mountains.
Have not seen/used one, but it seems very practical for an entryway or mudroom -- provides heat and a place to sit while taking off your shoes. A conventional radiator would just be in the way, but this takes advantage of the radiator, both to provide seating and warm your tush.
