Anyone familiar with Thermofin? It’s aluminum channel that fits around EX tubing and is mounted on top of the floor. Between the panels are plywood sleepers to accept finish floor. I was just wondering how this type of system compared to Gypcrete or fin tube baseboard. Thanks

1. Radiant floor heating systems offer much more area than baseboard systems thereby enabling larger spaces to be heated than with the baseboard systems alone.
2. The metal plates are used to encourage energy transfer. The Radiant Panel Association (RPA; (800) 660-7187,, ) may offer some guidance on testing of systems with and without the metal. This may allow you to calculate the cost efficacy of using the metal panning. (Be sure to insulate below the system (various approaches) using a foil-faced insulation for best results.)
