bought mine 2 years ago & have ran about 2000 ' of oak and cherry through it .
other than having a spare set of knives {which it comes with } works not bad
one thing that makes it work better is to put it on a 20 amp 110 v circuit otherwise it will blow the breaker too often
Whichever you get.....be sure its sharp enough to shave off excessive "n"s.

Five years ago I researched thickness planers and found the Ridgid to be the #1 choice in a couple of surveys. I bought it and have really no complaints. The knives are very easy to replace, and overall the machine is very user friendly. Like any machine, it has it's unique little ways that you have to get used to, but I think the Ridgid is a very good choice.
