I’m bettin’ money that everyone will be flying around in this new place in no time at all! It’s like a new town getting used to the streets. There are different navigational tools here that are unlike the old board. THROW AWAY YOUR PRECONCEPTIONS………….I’ve just discovered right-click-open-in-new-window and it really works great on this board. The designers have obviously made use of it here, other designs would use other things………….I’m just watchin’ to see how opinions change toward the favorable. -Ken Hill

Ken, do you not understand the concept of useable ? We can all eventually adapt to the new format; however, this is supposed to be recreation and diversion, not the Marine corps - if it isn't fun, then a lot of people are going to look elsewhere.

Ken,
I'm sure we'll all adapt in time to the navigational structure of the forum. In time we may even forget about threaded discussions, with "replies" located conversationally instead of chronologically.
The forum will survive, but with the threads not flowing (readability-wise) as well as they used to, some of the flavor will be lost. We'll have to wait and see how much tweaking the sysops can do over the next few weeks. A little cyber-CPR and hopefully they can breathe a little life back into this place. Time will tell.
The "open in a new window" is a great thing to use not just here, but wherever you are on the web. I always use it for opening attachment/pictures, etc. You'll get hooked.

I'm starting to get use to this and like it
I prefer threaded views too, but even in the old board everyone did not use the reply button to post.
If for no other reason I will suffer the things I don't like because of the Ignore option. Haven't tried it yet so don't know how it works,
But, it will hopefully keep some folks around who provide a wealth of informationboblVolo Non Voleo <2 weeks
An open mind is a powerful thing.
I decided to play around with it a bit before I make any decisions on if it's good or evil. I sure miss the old posts in the photo gallery and hope people like Stan and Bob find ways around the limits.
"preconceptions" that means you think we think or have active imginations or something . Darkworksite4: When the job is to small for everyone else, Its just about right for me"
I'm not hip to this "right click open a new window". How does that work? Thanks.

Silver,
It allows you to open more than one window at a time. This way, if you came across a web page with several links on it, you can keep that main web page open, then:
place your cursor over the link that you want to go to (or pic that you want to open).
click on that link using the right button on your mouse.
That will open a drop-down menu
left click on "Open in New Window"
The window that the link led to will open in a new window. This allows you to keep your main primary window open for reference, without having to back-browse and wait for it to reload.
You can repeat this over and over, ending up with several windows.
Thanks, Mongo. Getting the hang of it.
I'm digging it here...it may be sterile but I have a good imagination.
silver-way out of the box.
I will miss Ed also. The three mentioned here were a credit to the threads.
I don't like it either , but till there comes something better ..........
I suppose it is manageable, but so is flooded basement below me.
Been working on that and a hard job at work also. Haven't had a lot of time on here to learn the new stuff. My concern is the new people coming in that have no desire to fight with system. I guess we will see....................... as Gore said :" I heard you"
WE will see what they do with the message sent .

Bobl. you're right, in the old board, some did not use the reply button. But, enough did and that kept a nice flow. When someone didn't, you could somewhat still understand the context of the reply.
This latest setup has some severe problems. For instance, I started a thread...I think yesterday. I don't see it anywhere. The threads are disappearing way too fast, unless I have some settings wrong.
This will not work....
