I’m about to begin an 800 square foot tile installation in my garage. You descend the staircase and there is a room on each side and am not sure where the beginning point of the installation be as I plan to lay the tile on the diagonal. Here’s my question: Should I begin at the foot of the stairs, where in my opinion there’ll be the best visual impact, or should I begin in one of the rooms and work my way to the other side.
Thought I’d ask those who know.
Thanks,
O

Definately work from the most visual point. But maybe you need three layouts ... one for each room , and one for the bottom of the stairs. Maybe diagonal in the side room, and square in the stairs?

Agreed with the other post - work from the spot of visual impact. If possible, start close to the center of the room and work your way to the side rooms.
TTF,Thank you for answering me on February 14th. The tile job was turned over to the professionals and it was a great success. Now I need assistance in locating some photographs regarding scaffolding that I've seen in the past and have in the last few days been unable to find in the photo gallery where I originally viewed them. They were of people who rigged various items as scaffolding i.e. hay bales and poles. Help me if you can.Orchid

Design it for visual impact, but install it so you don't have to walk on what you've already done. Snap a guide line or even better use a line-type laser device. Work from the far side or corner towards your escape route.
