the timberloc box says its shear strength is about 3000 lbs.
it sounds like they can be used in stread of lag bolts.
???
any opinions.
have seen adds where the company is making a ledger version. (use for ledgers) wonder why the difference. 3000lbs sounds likeea good shear strength.

I'll jump in..I like em due to the amount of drilling ya don't have to do, and the ease of driving them.I have seen some really sad lags recently, crappy threads, and prone to twist off breakage.what the deal is with the new PT , I still don't know what they are treated with.

About timberlocs... I use them all the time in place of lags. Easy to sink with a powerful drill or a impact driver. No predrilling, switching bits, etc. I've driven a lot of the ten inch ones and never had one snap. Lag bolts it happens all the time. Legerlock ones are similar, different lengths, but have a larger washer incorporated into the head. Small enough head that they are easy to hide with a plug or some filler if need be.
I use these quite alot too. Here is some info about design values I got from the company awhile back.
