Did I see somewhere that Time is considering Osama as Man of the Year? Part of their criteria is that the person has to have had great influence on world history/events. Well, he sure qualifies there. But I can’t imagine they would do such a thing. But then isn’t the purpose of the media to sell papers (or magazines or air time), and not necessarily to report the news?

Time's man of the year has always been the person that has shaped history -- either positively or negatively. Hitler was also Man of the Year once. I think Osama and Adolph make a nice couple.
Peace.

*I think that Bin-Laden Should be put on a postage stamp.Especially since this is reserved for those who are DEAD!JMHO Mr. T.

*Time probably will go with Osama. The criterion is importance, whether for good or evil. If they don't, who else is there? President Bush? The flight 93 passengers? All the 9-11 victims?-- J.S.
*My grandmother was thrilled when they issued the Roosevelt postage stamp (back in the 50's?). Every time she put on one a letter, she slapped it hard to make sure it was on tight, and also to tell FDR what she thought of him.
*If that bastard is named man of the year, I think I'll build me an outhouse just so I can wipe my ass with with that issues cover.

*>If that bastard is named man of the year, I think I'll build me an outhouse just so I can wipe my ass with with that issues cover. That's the point. They're not that picky about why you buy the magazine, as long as you buy before you wipe.SHG
*You're abosutley right. So I don't support Time, I may have get this issue by other means.
*I am not surprised that Time wants Osama as Man of the Year. What's next? Perhaps seeing American-turned-Taliban-member John Walker sing "God Bless America" at the Super Bowl? Seems that praising evil has become a trend lately--anyone remember that Arafat won the Nobel?
*Ayatola Komenini won once it was great I lined my bird cage with his face but binny and his boys dont deserve that good of treatment
*I still have my copy of Time when Newt Gingrich was Man of the Year. Now that was a great choice!
