Afternoon All,
Just picked up a few pieces of lumber from a local yard (family owned, not big box). I was amazed at the treated lumber just piled in the sun with no protection. Warped, cupped, pretzel-like. The yard man went through a lot of time picking out the good stuff for me. In fact in a couple cases he may have been pickier than I would be. Seems like the amount of waste would have easily paid for a roof or sprinkler system. Maybe they just sell the leftovers to the big box!
Cheers,

I don't know. The big box I frequent has them all inside out of the sun and most are straight. Sounds like your local yard will be the next one down yelling "look what the big box did to our business" all while trying to sell the bowed wood they already paid for. DanT
I have to agree w/ you about the difference between the two. I really hate to go to the big stores, but if I want to get quality, straight lumber, more times than not I can get more of it there than @ the small yards.
I wish it was different, but around my area it isn't.
