We recently resurfaced a deck with Trex. We used stainless steel trimhead screws and then tapped the mushroom with a hammer. Days later I read an article where the installers used a heat gun first and then tapped the mushroom down. Does anyone know if this makes a big difference and if it makes sense to go back and do it? <!—-><!—-><!—->
Also the article mentioned countersinking then plugging the hole using the pvc method but it didn’t explain exactly what was involved. Does anyone know?<!—-><!—->

Bump
Okay! Thanks for the input,I think.
A bump just moves your post into the actyive list, so someone who knows something about the topic will see it, one hopes...
Trex is basically a thermoplastic which when warmed will let you curve it etc. The mushrooms from the screws will be fine as you've already addressed them. In the past, and when the job paid for the effort, I took a heat gun, hammer, and wire bristle brush to make the holes disappear. Heat first, tap flat with a hammer, then scuff with the brush along the grain. Tedious but it does make the holes go away.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I feel your pain.
