Hi all, need some info on the best screw to use for decking thru 1″ trex into press. treated. Are the ones advertised as no pilot hole needed any good? Do they leave a mushroom near the surface? Any information ?? Thanks Rickk

I'm not sure which brand you're referring to, but I've used a couple different brands and the both worked just fine. They even come with painted heads to match the decking color. Some, also, are just plain stainless steel. They work well without mushrooming the decking.
Rickk,
No pilot hole needed, very little mushrooming from most of the brands I've used.
One exception is Grip rite brand though. They stripped constantly and left a lot of mushroomed heads. Not sure why.
We've been using Pro fits with the Torx head on 'em. I prefer them.
I like and always use these -

Those work well for MiraTec (MDO I think) too.
