Hi, what is the best recommendation you can give for a house that is too “tight”? We completed this building about three years ago and after complying with all energy codes etc we now have chimneys that draft into the house. We have to open a window to get things to go in the right direction. I have cut several “heat” vents through the floor into the crawl space figuring that it is somewhat warmer than the window open route, but even this is not sufficient. We have a whole house fan but as you know this does not bring outside air in, just the opposite actually, so any ideas before I just remove a wall and buy my family warmer clothes for when we want to have a fire?
Thanks

Greetings BSacks,
An air exchanger system might be what you are looking for.
You might want to familiarize yourself with the term before other posters arrive to give you advice.
If you scroll down in the lower left corner of your screen there is a search function that will take you to previous threads dealing with whatever you type in the search bar.
I typed in air exchanger and got a good supply of data on the subject.
Cheers
Thanks for the qucik response, this is really a pain. Will look for info on the sight

If you have forced air heat, there is a makeup air vent which is essentially a duct between the return and outdoors with a barometric damper in it to allow air to be pulled in as needed.
If you have ANY combustion devices in the house (furnace, boiler, water heater, gas stove) you need to have a good HVAC person check the venting of those, as well - otherwise you are at very high risk of CO poisoning.
And I don't don't mean comparing the installation to the venting tables - I mean checking their actual operation with at least a draft gauge, or, better, also with a combustion analyzer.

Thanks for the tips and warning, our furnace is outside the house and we do have a CO detector, but I will have someone check the other venting. I need to find the least wasteful way to get outside air in with out to much hassle, opening the window is looking better all the time.
