A “friend” of mine has a house with vinyl siding (you know it’s really a friend, be/c domes don’t know from vinyl) that is shaded all day and has a mold/mildew problem. She’s wondering what to do about it. Any products y’all know of that are good for treating/preventing this?

Vinly won't support the growth of mold by itself. It is most likely dirty enough to provide the "food" the fungus is living on. A good scub brush and detergent with a shot of bleach mixed in should solve her problems. Keeping it clean will keep the stuff from coming back, but most HO don't think about giveing thier house an annual bath. After all, they were told "vinyl is final and maintenance free".

chello cloud;
i hope there is house wrap underneath the siding. if so pressure wash the siding. if not this looks like a new siding job. mold spreads fast
chello,
Mold is everywhere. Never should have to replace vinyl cuz it got a little mildew on it. It should be replaced cuz it's ugly but that's another subject.

your right vinyl should not be replaced but if you let the mold spread it will lead to the inside of the house. thats where if will really get costly. believe me i done lots of mold problems and it wasn't a pretty site
pay now or big time later
