A DIY’r, gutting a small kitchen in preparation for installing new cabinets and vinyl. The existing vinyl was laid over 1/4″ yuan which was stapled (1 1/4″ staples) thou the old vinyl into the 1/2 underlayment which is nailed to the plywood sub floor.
We have taken up the yuan together with the newest vinyl, leaving many staples and the old vinyl.
1) Is is OK to drive the staples into the old vinyl and then place a new 1/4″ underlayment (such as Multiply) and then new vinyl?
2) If the above is OK, what tool is used to drive the staples into the new underlayment?
Thanks for any help.
