I’m vinyl siding the front of a house. On the two sides it has the fiber cement shingles. I’m not sure how I should do the corners where the corner posts are to be installed. Can anyone tell me how the transition from the corners should be handled. Should I use corner posts? Or is there a better way with j channel etc.. Thank you.

Anybody?
mick,
Think I would use the big J on the front and wood cornerboards on the sides.

Why not use fiber cement on the front? If it's cost, just paint the front until you/they can afford fc siding to finish the job. Why chinch now?

Thanks for reply's.
Mick,
What 's on the corners now? I would nail a piece of 1x stock 1 inch narrower than the corner boards on the corner of the front of the house. Put your finished piece of trim on top of this and then put the side trim piece against this piece on the front. The piece of 1x will hold the trim off the wall so the vinyl can slip behind the trim and the fiber cement can butt against the piece on the side of the house. Just remember that the front and side pieces of finished trim will be 2 different widths ( the difference being the thickness of the material) since one piece will butt into the other. I hope I have been clear enough and hope this helps.

Mick, I would put corner boards up too as some once else suggested but, I would cut back the cement siding so the corner boards can be put on and pack out the corner board with 1/2 plywood or OSB. I would hold this back so your vinly siding can be slipped under the edge and fasten the j channel to the face of the wall in line with the corner board. This will help with expansion of the vinly siding.
