Been away from this forum for a few years but now I am back with a question…
My SO has asked me to replace four windows on her 1950’s house. 10 other windows have already been done a few years back with vinyl and she wants the same thing. The other windows are good quality but from a local manufactuer that went out of business so I can’t match them. So my question comes to what are your opinions on who is making a good quality vinyl double hung full frame window today.
I have a couple quotes (these are all for pretty similar units)
Croft Windows – $950
From a local lumberyard but the quality looks like junk so they are out
Pella – $1,150
Lowes, looks good but I have had bad expirences with their wood windows
Andersen – $1,325
HD, can’t tell the difference from Pella
Millguard – $1480
Local Building Supply recommended these
Jeld-wen – $1665
Building Supply also carried these
When I did remodeling in the past I almost always used Marvin for the better projects and Window World for my rental units or flips but this project does not warrant either extreme in quality. Further I normally deal with the local lumberyard for most of my stuff but again their windows look like junk.
Opinions? I know I get what I pay for but are the Jeld-wens really that much better than say the Andersens?
Thank you,
Day
