I have been using what I feel is a premium (if this is not an oxymoron) window in some of the properties I own. My current choice in distributed by Norandex. to date I am pleased with the looks, the fit and construction and durability. The value seems hard to beat. Any comments?

I think they're terrific. Quality varies but they'll beat wood windows if using single hung or sliders. I do a lot of remodeling and they can be ordered any size for very little extra. Used them on a Habitat house and the client is very pleased.
*I do like vinyl windows although I am not a fan of a brand you may have mentioned. While they are not as vesitle as a clad wood window, the price is hard to beat & they beat aluminum to death. If you are looking at replacing old wood double hungs, take a lokk at the sash replacement kits offered by woood window manufactureres.
*Vinyl windows are as varied as most products. Some are cheap in the initial cost and expensive in repair and replacement in the long run.Cost of window does not guarantee quality either. One of my companies has been using vinyl windows for the past year with excellent results. These windows are manufactured in the Maritimes and are based on the European tilt and turn system. They come with the brick mold monolithic to the frame, have galvanized steel re-enforcing in the frame and sash complete with a continuous nailing strip around the entire perimeter. A typical 32" by 48" window cost us about $395.CDN. These windows also lock up around the entire perimeter. We have also supplied and installed the same window in wood (oak) and the cost was $1,000 CDN more than the Vinyl.A quality vinyl window that is properly constructed and allows for easy replacement of thermal panes with the use of snap in window stops will last forever. Call me a recent convert..
*Gabe,Who makes those windows? The only tilt turns I have seen are from Marvin. I like this style of window and there are times when it is the best application
*Rob they are made by Polytech Products Ltd. Nova Scotia. We handle them here in Ontario.

We have a company here in BC that builds a upvc tilt
and turn system from Germany nice product about 30%
more than standard vinyl.Company called ANG Windows
*Thanks for the comments. Rob, have you had trouble with the Prizm units from Norandex?Incidentally, I have toured the maritime provinces and loved them. Several years ago, went clear to St. Anthony's Haven. Hope to to the Gaspe next time.Dennis
