You know all those little square black boxes that come with new fangled electronic stuff and plug into the wall as a minitransformer?
I just learned a lot about them. Including the name they have.
There’s almost an infinite variety of combinations of voltage, amperage, grounding, and jack sizes.
If you have one go bad, not to many retrail places will sell a replacement and when they do it’s a fifty dollar bill for a tendollar item. Partly that’s because a lot of people can’t get the right one or consumers use the wrong one and then blame the retailer when their expensive electronics get ruined. Too much liability so let’s just sell’m a new device instead.
I just had one go bad (from dropping it – but most go bad from lightning spikes) and went searching for a couple hours on the web. You guys and gals get this for free from me.

After all my research, I still wasn’t sure if I was finding the right part so I e-mailed this outfit with a description. I fully expected that it would take them a week or two to get back to me with an answer. In five minutes they replied with a cpouple followup questions and then immediately told me which one I needed.
That was four days ago and my $89 portable phone is up and runninng again for seventeen bucks including shipping – and I didn’t have to travel to the mainland to buy it.
Excellence is its own reward!
