Hello, I need some advise on this. I’m in the process of buying a home in Connecticut and I found something that was not evident on the inspection. The homeowner (or previous homeowner) put up a wall (2×4’s and drywall) perpendicular to a wall that has a baseboard heater. The added wall has a cutout/hole to allow the heater to traverse each side.
Specifically, they put a closet and an window bench in a bedroom. The room has about 16′ of baseboard heater. The closet and enclosed bench cover about 14′ of the heater allowing about 2′ to heat the room.
My first impression is that this is shoddy work and is not to code. Can someone tell me if there’s any associated dangers and if anything is wrong with this ?. And, possibly advise me on how to handle this so late in the buying process ?. Thanks.
Regards,
Frank E.

Whether it vioplates codes is something for your local codes officeer to decide.I tend to doubt it.
But it is pretty darn idiotic.
