The walls in my 80 year old home creak when I first walk on the floors in the morning. Yes, the walls creak briefly as I walk into the room not just the old wood floor.
It usually goes away after the first walk but it has me puzzled. It happens especially in my galley kitchen on both exterior (over raised concrete foundation) and on interior walls.
If it happened only on the interior walls I would chalk it up to foundation piers settling but it occurs on walls over the perimeter foundation.
Couple notes……it’s noticeable in my kitchen that has hardwood floors and in my bathroom that has tile floors. Has been heard for 10 years plus. No sign of termites or water damage.
Any ideas? Solutions? Thanks for your thoughts!

I believe that's the first time I've ever heard of walls creaking. Seems to me implausible but harmless.
I have it too - it's the house contracting just a bit due to colder night temperatures. In the winter by trusses will pop sometimes. I like it, since I creak in the morning as well.
