Good day you all, I am having problems with the pump in my well going on and off. I believe that the bladder in the tank is “water logged” I have drained the tank, shut down the valve to the house and then pump air back into it. It worked better but that was for about 3 weeks. I don’t know if I did this completely correct. Am I destined to have to have a new tank installed?
Also twice in as many months the pump wouldn’t go on. I fiddled with the switch with the contacts holding it in the start position for a number of seconds and it didn’t just jump on. After a number of attempts I got it to go on. I am wondering if the on off of the pump due to the tank problem could of caused this or is it more likely it shut down because time. I hope you can help. I don’t want to spend money or do test I don’t have to this is coming at a bad time. Thank you Tonythe well was drawn down. There was no extrodinary demands on the water either

1. Your bladder is likely leaking, so you will have to pump air back in. You don't have to drain the tank, just turn off the pump and use and air compressor to pump air in thru the schraeder valve. I add air to my 80 gal tank once every few months as I know I have a leaky bladder due to screws into the tank holding the rubber washers used to fix rust holes.
2. Your pressure switch contacts are likely badly burnt. The wimpy contacts on most pressure switches last only a few years at best. What works long term is to use 24 VAC thru the contact switches to control a motor start relay.
