I am looking for suggestions for detailing a timber deck which is waterproofed to below. One suggestion is covering the joists (fixed at a slight falls) with a plywood sheathing , waterproofing that with a malthiod torch-on type of water proofing and then fixing the deck planks to battens laid of the malthoid (fixed through it).Any suggestions?

Once you put the torch down on you've got a waterproof membrane.
Once you fix through it, you've got an ex-waterproof membrane.
Use an adhesive caulk compatable with your membrane and stick the sleepers to it, then be sure you use fasteners short enough to not penetrate to install the finished surface. If you are doing this in a hurricane area you'll need more than that or than you can get from a board like this. Your hold-downs would need some more engineering to figure windloads.
I use EPDM for same application.
*I've seen the torch-down run up and over the sleepers, then a second strip of torch down on top of the sleepers, then decking screwed through both layers and into the sleepers.Anyone have a problem with that?
