I am a DIY and have completed the sub-floor for an addition to my house. As I am only able to work on the project for a few hours a day, the sub-floor will be exposed for several months. Living on the banks of the beautiful Credit River in Ontario that means snow.
I remember a thread that discussed temporary weather protection for sub-flooring, but cannot find it. Is there an advantage to urethaning or painting the sub-floor? Any suggestions?

I've seen a lot of people put Thompson's water seal in a sprayer and spray it on. Don't know how much good it actually does, but it might help a bit.
There's a contractor in town that puts house wrap on his subfloors, and doesn't tear it off until after the drywall is sanded. He swears by it, and says he'll do it on every house he builds. The labels on the stuff say it's slick and shouldn't be used for walking surfaces though. Guess you can decide for yourself.
