web site for builder-inventors
Hello,
I started up the web site for builders and trades people with inventions. I am advertising in the current issue of Fine Homebuilding – p.11 – so I can give out the actual web address;
I’d like to encourage the readership to check out our site.
Inventing is a lot of fun. Marketing is much more challenging.
I know. I’m a builderwith 25 years of experience and an inventor.
This site is set up to help independent builder-inventors to showcase their products. If you like you can buy directly from the member through our online store.b This supports the individual builder-inventor.
The site will feature many more tools and products in the upcoming months. We’ll be opening up a forum for discussions too.
Take a look!
Mike

Actually, I set up the web site. I invented the CordSnake, a tool that keeps power tools and extension cords connected.. That was a lot of fun. Marketing it was much more challenging. I met quite a few other builder-inventors with great products, but having difficulty getting on to store shelves. That has a lot to do with today's big-box retail world.
I own and use many of the tools that are listed on the site. They're great.
The next step is to add new members.
We're setting this up so you can buy directly from us.
Great idea. I use a specialty tool for drywall patches by Red Tail - its pretty much strictly for pro's, because of the cost. But for me, where time is money, and quality (of my tools and my workmanship) is paramount, its worth it. Unfortunately, tools like this are hard to find, as big-box corporate socialism has taken over the marketing landscape, and obliterated the little specialty or niche retailer. A website like yours could be a great find for construction professionals looking for out-of-the-ordinary or specialty tools.View Image “Good work costs much more than poor imitation or factory product†– Charles GreeneCaliforniaRemodelingContractor.com
That's another reason I set up this site. The current big-box retailer system amounts to an almost monopolistic power over product distribution. Economics of scale work in favor of mass-distributors, large companies with big product lines. The small company with the great product faces an increasingly difficult time.
I'll look up the Red-Tail online. It might be a welcome addition to buildersinventions. Thanks for the tip.
Oh oh....I see one of my inventions in there....the chalk line thingy. I hate pounding nails for a chalkline.

There are quite a few other tools that will be listed in the upcoming months.
Let me know of any tools that you don't see here.
We want to provide the full spectrum of those hard-to-find original tools invented by people in the trades.
I've got half a dozen tools that aren't there. FKA Blue (eyeddevil)
Send me a list.
I'll contact the companies and get the ball rolling.
They aren't patented so sending the list would essentially be giving the tools away. FKA Blue (eyeddevil)
If the tools are already for sale in the public domain then it doesn't really matter if they are patented or not. The fact that they are for sale in the public domain makes that a moot point. Maybe thay used to have a patent which expired.
Some of the tools only exist in my mind. There are no tools like these that I know of. No prototypes, nothing. FKA Blue (eyeddevil)
In that case you'll want to get an Inventor's Notebook and start recording them intoo that. Have someone then sign, date and witness that in the same book.I'm looking to start an invention development part to the web site. I was thinking of a course, but there are several out there that I can recommend you start with. All of the members have gone through the process and have experienced the pitfalls. There is a lot to learn. We will soon feature 'True Stories'; actal stories of inventing from the members.
That should be interesting.
