I am about to lay a large cherry floor with wenge borders and celtic knots woven into the corners. I want to keep it as tight as possible. I am considering laying the field first, end trimming and grooving, then the knots and borders. Should I t&g the knot pieces and gorilla glue them? The field is about 12 x 24 and I will run the long way. Any other advice? Thanks Acorn

You can make the border and knot out of 1/4" material glued to 1/2" plywood, route a groove on each side of the plywood piece and fit it to the field with a spline. Lay the field using a straight edge on an end and side, run the other end and side wild and then trim them straight and square. At this point you can also route a groove on the cut end and side to spline to the pre-fab border and coner knot. Screw and plug the pre-fab border and knot in place, sand and finish.
