Hello to all,
I have been getting estimates on fixing the water table problem issue that I have in my basement. The work to be done and the price quotes are very close. The floor will be dug up around the perimeter and crushed stone & pipe will be used to capture water that will discharge from a sump pump. I live in the Boston, MA area and I am interested to know if anyone has a recommendation with regard to the work as well as any references.
Also, I have read about a system from a European company called DRYTRONIC. It is an electro osmotic pulse technology that the our government has been testing in a number of government buildings. The system uses electric current to push water molecules out through basement walls & floor into the surrounding earth.
Thanks.

If you have the room and the landscaping isn't too expensive, you may want to excavate the outside of the foundation in stead. I would prefer to have the french drain outside of the footing. This will also give you an opportunity to properly damp proof the outside of the foundation. Most basement dampproofing is totally inadequate ... just some asphalt sprayed on the concrete. There are a lot of new products out there that really work. The price will run up, but you will have a real fix.
Thanks for the response

Sounds like snake oil to me.............
If you involved in too many things, the only thing you will excel at is being busy.
Thanks for the response. I am waiting for some information and I agree it sounds too good to be true.
Try searching the forum, this is often discusseed.
Before spending big bucks, make sure you have good 10' downspout extensions (or your underground drains are working) and that the soil slopes away from your house.
The interior drain system treats the sypmptoms, not the problem, IMO.
The claims for the electrical system? I'm skeptical.
I'm with Bob on this. 95% of basement water is caused by faulty guters and down spouts as well as grading around the house.
Thank you for your time.
