Log home under construction in CO at 11,000 ft. elevation with a pitch of 14/12. We have temp. swings of 50 degrees even with lows of -30 degrees at night. High winds are also a factor. My wife wants slate but our shallow pockets negate that. Our GC wants to use concrete tile but my engineer says 950lbs/square is pushing the envelope. We will need 85 squares. My roofer can get the concrete at 85 dollars/square. Long life is important. Any suggestions?
In the first episode of FHB House Kansas, Travis and Joe of Catalyst Construction walk through details of their foundation walls.
