Hi folks. Norman here.
Its summer, and I must replace my 50 year old lennox counterflow oil fired furnace and same age water heater that sits adjacent to it in a cramped 4′ by 4′ utility closet in my 2,500 sf california syle ranch house that sits on a concrete slab. The air ducts run under the slab and are also used for central A/C, the unit for which sits outside and performs just fine. It is only 12 years old.
Anyone have any suggestions for a new unit or system other than lennox that is reliable, fairly readily available and reasonably priced? I have no problem with lennox, just would like to compare other models. What are the problems or pitfalls, if any, during removal or installation? Since I’m doing this in the summer, about how long would I have to do without A/C, I’m located in long island where the summer is hot and muggy.
Does $5,000 sound like a reasonable budget for this type of job?
Thanks for your advice,
Norman
