What’s the best gutter hanger system for 5″ gutters, for diy installation?
Hi. I was researching gutter hangers recently to help me fix my sagging 28 foot long gutters. What’s the strongest system out there? Any suggestions? What do you think about the two I’ve found-one called the HangFast and one called the Sampson Hanger. The HangFast claims to hold 297 lbs but it didn’t say if that was the capacity for one or a whole line of them. The Sampson on the otherhand says they ARE the strongest and they show it holding an 80 lb weight alone on one with test results comparing it to the competitors. I’m leaning toward the Sampson ones.
I found another system that is a continuous piece of aluminum (called the Truss Dura trac)that gets affixed behind the gutter onto the fasci and then the gutter sort of clicks into it (no holes into the fascia) but it seems that it is only offered by contractors who will install it and not sold to diy people.
Thanks

The best hanger system is the one uses enough hangers to hold the gutter. Most "builder" gutter installs have only half the hangers they need.
I like these but I haven't used many others, we call them universal hangers. Snap a line on the fascia, screw the hangers on the line hitting each rafter, 16" or 24" OC. The gutter is installed by hanging it on the front and swinging it up into the rear clips, pretty easy even for one person. They stand up to the ice and snow we get, even bad ice dams.
Gutter hanger
Those clearly look very weak and are very weak for my situation. There's absolutley no bent gusset or even a sheet metal bend where it counts at the bend near the fascia.
I have a metal roof that, when snow is on it, and it starts sliding off and hanging onto the gutters they literally twist the gutter almost 90 degrees and pop most of the hangers out of the front lip. Lot of snow last year and I had to use an awesome roof rake that helped alot with the problem. This year however I plan to add snow guards on the roof as well as the strongest hangers I can find.
Thanks
strongest gutter hangers
DanH; I'm revisiting this project that I haven't got to but I was looking for a specific type/design that is the strongest.
The point is that the particular hanger you use is not nearly as important as how many you use and how well they're anchored.
What's your point, again?
hidden screw type hangers by Raytec
IMO, the best gutter hanger for regular 5" or 6" K style gutters is made by Raytec. Most professsional seamless gutter installers around our area use these. You can buy them here:

Remember: A gutter hanging system is only as good as the fascia it is attached to.
Most production home fascias are attached (nailed) to end grain lumber framing (trusses usually) which is why snow and ice can tear them away from the house along with the gutter. We usually frame with sold 2x subfascias just for this reason. Our subfascias are attached with timber screws and our fascias are usually attached with SS wood screws.
I have a lot of trees close to the house, so I wanted a gutter guard when I did new gutters. The T-Rex system from Alu-Rex , which is a hanger and guard system, seemed like a good idea.
Was fairly easy to instal, It is inserted and crimped to the gutter on the ground, so the gutter does not flop around when lifting up the the roof.
2 years, have not needed to clean the gutters, Gutters are securely held. I'm happy with the system.
Seems proprietary
Where did you buy the T-Rex components in order to install it yourself?
Available in my area from roofing supply distributors.
I'm in southern Ontario. There are a number of companies that will show up on site with the seamless gutter machines, roll out what ever you need, and supply the required accessories, including the T-Rex or competing products.
Edit: Checked the Alu-Rex web site. US partner is PlyGem, and is marketed as Leaf Relief Combo Hanger. Not sure what the distribution system is like.
